Catching certain smells will trigger my memories. Put them in high gear to where I can see the place, person or moment. Remind me of an emotion or feeling. I noticed it is usually connected to good things more so than negative or bad.

The most outstanding one, or couple, is diesel and roasted peanuts. Strange combination; but, it puts me downtown Springfield, Ohio back in the days of malt shops and Cherry phosphates every time. I loved walking around the city in the crispness of winter, the slush on the curbs, and the excitement that came with Christmas shopping. You see that, there I went --so cool! I can smell peanuts now. My next series of drawings will be downtown; even though it isn't the same now.

Enjoyed the article. Nice site.
